It Takes Two – Celebrity Dancer Richard Clark

On one Sunday afternoon, Richard Clark and his wife were invited by a friend to see a modern dance performance at the Akron Ice House. Clark and his wife walked out of that performance as forever fans of GroundWorks DanceTheater.

It’s for this very reason Clark is participating in GroundWorks 10th Annual It Takes Two Benefit on April 28th at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

“GroundWorks is really doing what not too many other people are doing in terms of a resident modern dance company,” says Clark. “We feel honored and privileged to support them in any way, and I’m flattered that they would ask me to participate.”

Clark is involved in many other Cleveland organizations. He is the Executive Vice President of the John P. Murphy Foundation and the Kulas Foundation. He is also the Director of the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center and the Greater Cleveland Film Commission.

While Clark has never danced in public before, he frequently sings as part of the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center’s “Sing Out!” chorus at Severance Hall where money is raised to help survivors of sexual violence and abuse.

Clark is eager to partake in this year’s benefit and has invited numerous friends and family to watch.

“My wife and I love GroundWorks,” says Clark. “We love David and the dancers, and we love the board. They’re a really great group of people.”
