Meet Dan Moulthrop!

We asked all of our Celebrity Dancers to tell us a bit about themselves so you can get to know them and their organizations before the big event! Today, we are talking with Dan Moulthrop, CEO of the City Club of Cleveland.

Tell me about your organization and what you do.

The City Club of Cleveland has been supporting our community and democracy since 1912. I’m kind of fired up about our republic and the importance of strong democratic institutions right now, and I feel strongly that our work at the City Club is all about figuring out the kinds of conversations that challenge the community, that keep our government officials connected to the constituencies they serve, that help us find solutions, and ultimately help keep democracy strong and resilient. That used to feel like a theoretical thing. Today, it feels very real and very necessary.

Why did you decide to dance in It Takes Two?

I’ve long wanted to but haven’t had the time, and this year, I felt like I couldn’t say no to Shimo again.

What is your dance background? Have you danced or performed on a stage before?

I took tap when I was a child, and I still remember some basic ballet warm ups. I still know first through fifth positions. As an adult, I danced in Young Audience’s local dancing with the stars thing, and it was terrifying. I also dance in my kitchen while cooking. My kids don’t really think I have moves, but they’re wrong.

What are some of your favorite places to eat in Cleveland?

Almost anywhere with friends and family. My kitchen is my favorite place to eat. My mother’s and mother in law’s kitchen are my two other favorite places. There’s an Indian food spot in the 5th Street Arcade that I love. And a fully loaded falafel in the West Side Market that I crave but don’t get to enjoy as much as I wish. And I’m never sad if I wind up at Presti’s.

What should fans expect from your performance on April 27th?

It’s going to be goofy.

Make sure you vote for Dan and catch his performance on April 27th at It Takes Two!
