GroundWorks DanceTheater seeks an experienced, self-motivated and creative-thinking individual with excellent communication and program management skills for its Development Director position.

Position Description

The Director of Development creates and oversees the implementation of a strategic approach to fundraising, which includes grant solicitation, major gifts, annual campaign, fundraising events, and in-kind resources.  This position reports to the Executive Artistic Director.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with the Finance/Development Committee of the Board of Directors and Executive Artistic Director to create a fund development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization.

  2. Implement the fund development plan in accordance with ethical fundraising principles.

  3. Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being successfully executed against the Strategic Plan.

  4. Develop and manage timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic planning and processes are carried out in a timely manner.

  5. Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.

  6. Oversee the planning and execution of special fundraising events.

  7. Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.

  8. Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.

  9. Identify and develop corporate, community and individual prospects.

  10. Oversee the administration of the patron database.

  11. Coordinate in-kind donations and make decisions regarding the issuing of receipts.

Qualifications

  1. Must embrace the mission and vision of GroundWorks DanceTheater

  2. Have strong interpersonal and writing skills

  3. Have knowledge and experience in all fundraising techniques

  4. Possess the skills and desire to build external relationships

  5. Enjoy and work well in a collaborative, team setting

  6. Be organized and exhibit follow-through on tasks and goals

  7. Hold a bachelor’s degree, at minimum

  8. Have 5 years minimum experience in professional fundraising

  9. Show demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills

  10. Have basic technology skills required with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and social media platforms

  11. Possess general knowledge of customer relationship management database systems

  12. Experience in the arts and culture sector is a plus

  13. Marketing experience is a plus
