  • Melissa Ferchill Swingos is the Founder and President of MCM Company, Inc. The firm was established in 1992 as a full-service construction management firm. Over the last three decades, Ms. Ferchill Swingos successfully guided MCM to expand its body of work to include program management, strategic planning, pre-development services, project consulting, historic preservation, owner’s representation, and real estate development. Located in the beautifully restored and renovated Our Lady of Mercy Campus in the historic Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland, MCM is best characterized as an urban niche developer, known for successfully completing complex projects in older cities and under-served urban neighborhoods. Melissa is nationally recognized for her expertise in historic tax credit financing redevelopment.

MCM’s extensive experience in historic adaptive reuse development includes commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects as well as not-for-profit institutional restorations and off- balance sheet financing for medical/research facilities. MCM has completed over $6 billion in development and construction since its inception. MCM is currently developing projects in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, and Chicago, as well as providing development consulting services for projects at Cleveland State University, Baldwin Wallace University, and Muskingum University in Ohio.

Melissa’s career began in 1991 as an estimator/project manager with the Acme Arsena Company. Her accomplishments at Acme Arsena include Key Tower and Progressive Field. Melissa graduated from Boston University with a BA in Art History.

Melissa’s civic and community service projects are lengthy. She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of Downtown Cleveland, Inc., a Board Member of the Group Plan Commission, and a Leadership Advisory Board Member for the College of Arts & Sciences at Boston University. She has three adult sons and resides in Rocky River, Ohio with her husband, Nick Swingos. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, live music, and traveling. A lifelong Cleveland sports fan, you can also find her at Browns, Cavs, Indians, Vikings, and Buckeyes games.

  • Why did you become an It Takes Two! celebrity dancer?

    Because Suzanne Hamilton asked me

How has it been working with your GroundWorks dance partners?

Matthew & Teagan are great! Very kind, generous and forgiving!

What has surprised you about the creative process?

I’m better at it than I expected!

What about dance in general connects with you?

It’s fun and always means that it’s a party so hopefully everyone is having a good time.
